Virat Kohli’s RCB crash to lowest-ever IPL score in history

first_imgRoyal Challengers Bangalore were condemned to the lowest-ever Indian Premier League total after being all-out for just 49 in 9.4 overs, losing the match by 82 runs chasing a paltry 132 against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on Sunday night. The previous lowest was 58 by Rajasthan Royals against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2009 at the Newlands in Cape Town, South Africa. Not only that, this was also the 10th lowest ever score in history of T20 cricket.Nathan Coulter-Nile took the first wicket when he removed Virat Kohli for a golden duck in the third ball of the chase and then RCB fell like a pack of cards. Umesh Yadav then removed Mandeep Singh as RCB was reduced to 3/2 from 1.2 overs before Coulter-Nile continued the good work as he removed AB de Villiers and Kedar Jadhav in quick succession before Chris Woakes and Colin de Grandhomme wiped out rest of the batting line-up, bowling out Bangalore in just 9.4 overs.Coulter-Nile finished with figures of 3/21 from his three overs while Woakes and de Grandhomme bagged three wickets apiece. Even Umesh, who finished with figures of 1/15, bowled with great hostility and set the game up brilliantly for Woakes and de Grandhomme to pick the bones of what was left.Such was the despair for RCB that their scorecard – 7, 0, 1, 8, 9, 8, 2, 0, 2, 5, 0 –  looked like a phone number as nobody crossed the single figure mark. This is only the second time that 20 wickets have fallen in an IPL match as KKR also lost all their wickets in the first innings.advertisementInterestingly, today was the day when RCB made their highest-ever total when they scored 263/5 against the now-defunct Pune Warriors riding on Chris Gayle’s monstrous 175 not out off only 66 balls in 2013 and it’s the same day when they fell for the lowest ever total of 49 against KKR.With this win, Kolkata now have 10 points from seven games and sit on second in the points table while Bangalore are rock bottom with four points from seven games.KKR next play the Rising Pune Supergiant in Pune on April 26 while RCB will host Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 25 in Bangalore.last_img
