Javier Hernandez’s desire for more game time saw the Mexican head to Real Madrid on a season-long loan deal, but with Los Blancos seemingly uncertain whether they will keep him on a permanent basis, he might find a second chance at Old Trafford. His scoring ratio at United speaks for itself and given another crack at the whip, he could come good (again). Louis van Gaal’s decision to omit striker Radamel Falcao from Man United’s 1-0 defeat to Southampton has set tongues wagging over the Colombian’s future at the club.Falcao joined the Red Devils in a transfer deadline day move back in the summer, United paying an initial £5m loan fee to Monaco with the option to permanently keep the player at the end of the season for an additional £45m.While it was thought that United would take up that opportunity, it has now been thrown into doubt. But should Falcao not remain at the club, who could they turn to, in order to bolster their striker options?Click the arrow to see who could come in… 6 6 6 2. West Brom’s Saido Berahino – beat LFC to another target?! Click the arrow for more… – While United would be tempted to shop abroad, perhaps they would be better suited looking for a replacement closer to home. Saido Berahino’s development at West Brom is coming along nicely, with the England youngster having taken his Premier League tally to nine goals at the weekend. There is a feeling that he is now ready for the step up to a bigger club and United could certainly offer him that platform. With English talent at a premium though, he is likely to cost a pretty penny. 4. Porto’s Jackson Martinez – Falcao’s successor in more ways than one? Click the arrow for more… – Should they decide to pursue him, United could always replace one Colombian with another, in the shape of Jackson Martinez, who succeeded his compatriot at the Portuguese club. The Porto striker is once again scoring goals for fun and looks on target to eclipse his 29-goal return of last season. A prolific hitman with a style that would seemingly suit the Premier League, he would surely be in contention. 5. Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette – Beat Liverpool to his signature? Click the arrow for more possible Falcao replacements – The Frenchman has been linked with a move to Liverpool in January, but with that seemingly unlikely at this stage, it looks as though if he is going to leave Lyon it will be in the summer. The 23-year-old is currently Europe’s best marksman behind Cristiano Ronaldo – boasting 19 league goals so far – and it is only a matter of time before a big money move happens. With Robin van Persie beyond his peak and Wayne Rooney occupying a deeper role, Lacazette could be the ideal man to rejuvenate United’s front line. 6 6 6 1. PSG’s Edinson Cavani – world class talent – If United are happy to splash the cash on a finished article, then they should arguably look no further than Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan international is reportedly considering his future in France, and certainly has the talent to thrive elsewhere.
