first_imgThe Liberia Football Association has with immediate effect reduced the fees charged for yellow and red cards during league matches. The LFA in a release said the decision to reduce the cost of yellow and red cards followed close consultations between the Competitions Committee and the President of the LFA.The consultations were a result of an appeal by clubs taking part in the ongoing Cellcom National League that the fees were high and having an impact on their expenditure.According to the release, the fee for yellow card has been reduced from L$1,000 to L$750, the fee for red card which is the second caution has been reduced from L$2,000 to L$1,500. The fee for straight red card which has to do with violent or abusive conduct among others is from L$10,000.00 to L$5,000.00.The Chairman of the Competitions Committee of the Liberia Football Association Ansu V.S. Dulleh said the initial amount of cards payment was not intended to take money from clubs but to instill some discipline in players. Mr. Dulleh is now urging clubs to encourage their players to desist from irregularity and indiscipline acts during and after league matches. He warned that if such acts continue the LFA will be left with no other alternative but to reverse its decision.Meanwhile, the LFA Competition Committee is reminding clubs that red and yellow cards already issued and in the possession of the LFA still carry the old costs; except for new cards issued as of May 9.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img
