The String Cheese Incident Wraps Up Hulaween With Guest-Filled Finale

first_imgThe String Cheese Incident brought their Suwannee Hulaween festival to a close yesterday, wrapping up the four-day event at Live Oak, FL in style. The band highlighted the weekend with their “Stringier Thing” set tributing the 1980’s, and closed out the weekend with a great, guest-filled performance last night. After opening the show with “Song In My Head” and playing a few more songs to get into the groove, the band first called on guitarist Tyler Grant to help them on “Get Tight.” The second set featured more guest stars, as the band welcomed the Travelin’ McCourys for a three-song acoustically-oriented run to start the set. “How Mountain Girls Can Love,” “Shady Grove” and “Don’t It Make You Wanna Dance” were all collaborations between the McCoury clan and the Cheese Incident.Later on in the set, it was Dominic Lalli (Big Gigantic) and Joey Porter (The Motet) who would join in for the classic “Freedom Jazz Dance,” an Eddie Harris original that was regularly covered by the Jerry Garcia Band. Lalli’s Big Gigantic bandmate Jeremy Salken joined next, adding some drumming to “Round The Wheel.” Finally, Lalli would return for the final song of the night, SCI’s “Beautiful.”Check out the full setlist below, as annotated by SCI Tour. Cheese is now off the road until New Year’s, where they’ll resume their annual tradition and take over the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, CO for a multi-night run.Setlist: The String Cheese Incident at Suwannee Hulaween, Live Oak, FL – 10/30/16Set One: Song In My Head, These Waves, Djibouti Bump, Get Tight*, Down A River, Born On The Wrong Planet, Rain -> BollyMunsterSet Two: How Mountain Girls Can Love%, Shady Grove%, Don’t It Make You Wanna Dance%, Bumpin Reel, Sometimes A River, You’ve Got The World, Freedom Jazz Dance^, Round The Wheel$, Beautiful#* = w/ Tyler Grant% = w/ Travelin’ McCourys^ = w/ Dominic Lalli (Big Gigantic) and Joey Porter (Motet)$ = w/ Jeremy Salken# = w/ Dominic Lallilast_img read more

No Cyber Czar for You, America: Obama Fails to Appoint InfoSec Head

first_img8 Best WordPress Hosting Solutions on the Market Tags:#politics#web Why Tech Companies Need Simpler Terms of Servic… Related Posts A Web Developer’s New Best Friend is the AI Wai…center_img jolie odell In a recent interview, Homeland Security deputy undersecretary Philip Reitinger commented on President Obama’s as-yet unfulfilled promise to appoint a senior White House cybersecurity advisor.Although the nation has an acting cybersecurity coordinator in former FBI cyber staffer Chris Painter, no permanent appointee has been named in the six months since the President announced his commitment to create and fill this position. Can the White House appropriately and competently address our national needs without a permanent cybersecurity head? In light of our assessment of America’s vulnerability to cyber attacks just six months ago, Reitinger’s reaction is surprising.Reitinger, a former Microsoft strategist and current director of the National Cybersecurity Center, believes that White House cybersecurity processes at the White House are running smoothly.“It is absolutely essential that there be strong, White House involvement in cybersecurity, and there is strong, White House involvement in cybersecurity,” he said. He further vouched for the acting coordinator, saying, “The acting cybersecurity coordinator at the White House, Chris Painter, is a bona fide expert in this field, and has a great team of people working for him.”Still, although Reitinger says things are going well now and that short-term issues are being addressed, how much control does the acting coordinator have to over long-term, national IT concerns – especially considering the problematic and essentially political nature of cybersecurity leadership in Washington? Reitinger told Information Week several months ago that he expected the coordinator position to be a fulcrum for cybersecurity at the national level and within the White House. Have his priorities shifted enough that he feels a temporary position in one administration is truly adequate to address the country’s needs? And what of the President’s assurance that national cybersecurity would be prioritized with this new position? We’ve been reporting since April on calls for the President to create a National Office of Cyberspace, and those requests from all corners – including congressional types and think tanks – have not satisfactorily been met.To quoteInformation Security editor Michael Mimoso, “All I want for Christmas is a cybersecurity coordinator.”Is President Obama right to ease up on his commitment to national cybersecurity, and is America sufficiently protected by a temporary cybersecurity coordinator, after all? Or are the cyberwonks justified in their disappointment and frustration? Let us know your opinion in the comments. Top Reasons to Go With Managed WordPress Hostinglast_img read more

first_imgAbout the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say Man Utd midfielder Juan Mata: Great players not always great coachesby Paul Vegasa month agoSend to a friendShare the loveManchester United midfielder Juan Mata says being a great player doesn’t mean he’ll be a great manager. He writes in his new book, “Juan Mata: Suddenly A Footballer”:“There are many cases where an ex-player becomes a manager with time. It normally starts by coaching youngsters in academies, then through reserve teams or smaller clubs in lower leagues, to gain some experience of managing groups and leadership.“Pep Guardiola, Luis Enrique, Ronald Koeman, Zinedine Zidane, Julen Lopetegui, Ernesto Valverde, Mauricio Pochettino, Antonio Conte and Ole are just some examples of that process. But having been a fantastic player does not make you a great coach. Not at all.“Experience definitely adds something really important, but seen from my point of view, becoming a manager has more to do with your understanding of the game, your personality, your ability to communicate, convince and motivate, and your work ethic, than your experience as a football player. You need to be a leader.” last_img read more
